Tis the season of love, which inevitable means talk and planning for engagements, bridal gatherings, and weddings! While classic and timeless marital associations remain tried and true, each year brings something new when it comes to all things from saying “Yes!” to “I do.” 2025 Brides have some fresh and exciting tastes for the year on all things wedding related.
Simple rings are always in style, but 2025 brides are leaning toward rings that ditch the traditional look and showcase personality. White gold and two-toned rings and bands, colored center stones or colored stone clusters over center stones, sculptural bands, east-west placements, and vintage inspired rings have skyrocketed in popularity late last year and early this year.
Vintage inspired rings are not the only nod to past trends in the wedding world. Basque waists, corset styled tops, tulle and lace skirts, and dramatic sleeves are all common with this year’s brides. The classic veil is also seeing a decrease in popularity, with scarfs, hats and capes taking their long-held place. Fashion forward getting-ready looks are also replacing the robe and PJ tradition, making every moment of the big day, bigger and better from the fashion perspective.
While destination weddings and elopements were big during and post COVID, there has been a shift to more local and intimate ceremonies and weddings. Destination weddings are still very much “in, but hometown, backyard, and restaurant wedding venues have become increasingly popular recently. Couples have also started opting for private vows before the ceremony, allowing for a more intimate moment and photo opportunities without the crowd of guests.
When it comes to capturing all the little moments, 2025 couples are leaning toward film photography and retro styled videography, especially after Alex Cooper released her stunning wedding photos that looked and felt straight out of a movie. Candids are being preferred over the traditional posed photographs, truly capturing the newlyweds and guests in the moment and not taking time away from any of the celebration and memories in the making.
In terms of decor, the trends are taking a more simple approach. Small color pallets, drapery, lots of muted or white florals and vintage pieces and touches are all the rage, allowing for beautiful backdrops with the couple and guests as the focal point of the event and photos. Sometimes less is more and even more elegant.
Brides are not forgetting to include their guests in the trends of this year. While a reduced guest count has become more popular, brides are making receptions interactive and intimate with fun surprises and twists. Experiential escort cards and objects in lieu of invitations are just the start of the fun for all guests. Food trucks, grazing tables, themed food bars and ready to drink cocktails are highly suggested this year, and take away boxes with late night snacks or breakfast for the day after are also becoming common.
